The Driver Scorecard is an effective tool for assessing driver performance and ensuring safety on the road. Imagine a driver on a route—every mile they drive adds points to their score. However, actions such as aggressive acceleration, hard braking, and fast cornering will decrease their score. Each of these events will result in points being deducted from the driver's overall score.
Here is the formula we used to calculate the Driver Score:
Driver Score = (Points Scored / Starting Points) × 100
Step 1: Find the Starting Points
Starting Points is the total number of miles driven.
For example, if the driver drove 1000 miles, the Starting Points would be:
Starting Points = 1000
Step 2: Calculate Penalty Points for Events
Now, look at the default penalty points for each event:
- Aggressive Acceleration: -25 points each time
- Hard-Braking: -75 points each time
- Fast Cornering: -10 points each time
You can modify the penalty points for each event in the settings. Please follow the provided instructions - How to modify the Penalty Points for the Driver Score?
Let’s say the driver experienced these events during the trip:
- 2 Aggressive Accelerations
- 1 Hard-Braking
- 3 Fast Cornering
Calculate the Total Penalty Points:
- Aggressive Acceleration: 2 events × -25 points = -50 points
- Hard-Braking: 1 event × -75 points = -75 points
- Fast Cornering: 3 events × -10 points = -30 points
Total Penalty Points = -50 - 75 - 30 = -155
Step 3: Calculate Points Scored
Now, subtract Penalty Points from Starting Points to get Points Scored:
Points Scored = Starting Points - Penalty Points
So,
Points Scored = 1000 - 155 = 845
Step 4: Calculate the Driver Score
Now, plug these numbers into the formula to get the Driver Score:
- Divide Points Scored by Starting Points:
Driver Score = (Points Scored / Starting Points) × 100
- Multiply by 100 to turn it into a percentage:
Driver Score = (845 / 1000) × 100 = 84.5
